38, 39, 40 Weeks Old and some 9 Month Stats

My baby is already nine months old. I know I say this with every milestone and monthday, but seriously. How is he already nine months old? He's now been an outside baby longer than he was inside.

Tommy is still the happiest baby I know. He's cruising everywhere and holds on with just one hand, but isn't quite ready to try standing on his own. He crawls insanely fast and gets into things the girls had zero interest in. And now he's reached that "fun" age where I say no and he laughs hysterically and does the thing anyway. He basically eats whatever we eat now, which has made meals so much easier, though the little man can make a giant mess when he eats and often winds up in the sink for a quick bath.


He's still in nine month clothing, but he's slowly busting out of them. Before his well check I guessed that he would be pretty high on the height charts and somewhere around 20 pounds - at least that's what he feels like when I carry him. His official nine month stats:
Weight: 20lbs 7oz, 64th percentile
Height: 29 3/4", 94th percentile
Head: 18 1/4", 85th percentile

Our little man is just getting bigger and bigger and before we know it he'll be ONE.

4 month well visit

What a nice day, even if it was a bit muggy. Stasa even got to play outside like 3 or 4 times at school and we took her out again after dinner.


Both girls were exhausted by 7:00, so much so that Lexi fell asleep while we were blowing bubbles.


And speaking of Little Lexi, I took her in for her 4 month well visit this morning. She was in the best mood and put on quite a show for Dr. Cooper. Let's start with her stats:
Weight: 13lbs 13 oz (juuuuuuuust over the 50th percentile)
Height: 26.5" (95th percentile!)
Head: 15.75" (juuuuuuuuust under the 25th percentile)

She got a few vaccinations - 2 shots and an oral and took them like a champ. She showed off her rolling skills and once she was on her belly she was scooting all over the place. Dr. Cooper thinks she's going to be an early crawler and should be sitting up soon with her good back control. While we were there I mentioned Stasa's hitting and biting and told her how we put her in time out, for how long, and where and how we try to keep from yelling. She reassured me that we're doing everything right and that she should eventually grow out of this phase, but that she's not surprised that she's being the aggressor at home since she was bitten at daycare. So all in all a great appointment.

We spent the day with family and my god did it get hot and humid. Stasa had a blast popping bubbles that daddy and her uncles blew for her and was a natural at egg hunting (although how hard can it be when the eggs are out in the open and you have no competition?). We played one of my favorite games, Phase 10 (a rummy game), and I managed to lose to a bunch of yahoos. Stupid 2 sets of 4. Worst phase ever.

After we came home and ate a quick dinner, Stasa and I covered our walkway in beautiful sidewalk chalk drawings. And when I told her it was time for a bubble bath, she threw herself to the ground and insisted that she was drawing, as if that would make it okay for her to stay out longer. Of course once we were inside and drawing the bath she forgot about everything else and was her happy self again. Bubble "bafs" are the best, don'tcha know. 

AND today is thrice as special for us. Not only is it Easter, but it's also Stasa's name day and Lexi's first monthday! 

9 months old & 39 weeks old

Stasa is now three quarters of a year old. She went to her 9 month well baby check-up this morning. Here are her stats:

21 lbs, 9 oz: 90th percentile for weight
27.5": 50th percentile for height
I forgot the head measurements, but she's still in the 25th percentile there.

Dr. Hunter said we can decrease the amount we're putting in her bottles for daycare, but we don't need to drop any feedings yet. She also gave us the go ahead to start meat so I think we'll start with chicken. We're thinking of grinding it and making chicken meatballs - something easy for her to feed herself. She's almost on all table foods which makes meal times messier, but easier for us. She even had a few bites of my apple crisp at dinner tonight.

Oh and now that she's close to 22 lbs, we made retired the infant car seat and made the official switch to the convertible carseat.

7 months old

Check out those top teeth. She loves having her teeth and gums brushed after bathtime and hopefully that becomes a good habit.

We spent the day at Aunt Peggy's yesterday, playing cards and hanging out at the pool. I forgot my camera like a dummy, so I don't have any pictures of us in the pool. I did dunk her under and she didn't cry at all. She fussed a little when we first put her in her raft, but then relaxed and played with her hand toy.

Today we're heading up to Gaithersburg to go to a fair with our friends LuLu and Audrey. And then we're going back to LuLu's house so the babes can play and the moms can relax.

6 months old

Happy 1/2 birthday, Stasa!

weight: 16 lbs, 10 oz; 50th percentile
height: 26.5"; 50th percentile
head: 16.3", 25th percentile

Today you get to try banana puree for the first time for lunch. You already have 2 teeth and it feels like a couple are trying to come through your top gums, too. You've been rocking on all fours for a couple of weeks now and have figured out how to move your legs to get moving; you just can't quite move your arms yet to really start crawling. You've also recently started to go from all fours to side sitting.

5 months old

Today is Stasa's 5th monthday! Only 1 more month until she's 1/2 a year old and starts solids. I started reading Super Baby Food last night to get ready for our introduction to solids. I am leaning towards skipping rice cereal and oatmeal and going straight to avocados. They're higher in fat and have lots of nutriental value and a very low risk for allergies.

I took Stasa to the pool for the first time yesterday. I asked Peter to snap a couple of pictures of her in the pool. While he did take pictures, he didn't quite get Stasa in them. She HATED her raft, but tolerated the pool as long as I was holding her against me. We'll keep taking her so she can get used to the pool. She got to wear her super cute iplay swim diaper. I liked it so much, I'm definitely getting larger ones for later in the summer.

17 weeks and 4 months

Stasa was 17 weeks old yesterday and is officially 4 months old today. She's such a fun baby and is becoming very interactive. She loves loves loves sitting up like a big girl and I'm sure that when she finally does, we'll never get her to lay down again. She's consistently rolling over, but most times it's in the middle of the night and in her crib. She goes in on Monday for her 4 month appointment and shots. I'm sure the doctor will clear us to start solids, but we're probably going to wait until closer to 6 months to start. If you have any good recipes for baby foods (or cooking methods), please send them along!

3 months!

Stasa is 3 months old today! And we're having our professional photo shoot with Mike today after work. I made Stasa another tutu for the photo shoot - she's going to be so cute. Now I just have to figure out what Tom and I will wear.

I really can't believe she's already 3 months old. Stasa's consistently sleeping through the night 3-4 nights a week. She's teething, but really isn't that fussy for a teething baby. She mostly just wants to drool and chew on everything, with occasional licks. It's so much fun playing with her now - she kicks at toys and is starting to reach for them, too. She's loving her new tummy time playmat and can lift her head up all the way when she's on it. Although she definitely prefers to munch on her hands.

I'm also really proud of myself for reaching my first breastfeeding goal. My next goal is to make it to 6 months.

2 months old

Stasa is 2 months old today. She's got great head/neck control and prefers sitting up on daddy's belly or in the Bumbo. She's also cooing more, especially in the early morning, but we're still waiting for giggles and laughs.

I still can't believe 2 months have gone by already. I'm sad that I only have 4 weeks left before I have to go back to work. I don't want to miss any of her milestones, like when she rolls over, sits up or giggles.

We go for her 2 month shots on Tuesday - I'm sure she's going to *love* those.
