Catching up, again

It's been difficult to find a free moment or two between pregnancy, work, school, and raising a toddler. Here's what we've been up to the past week (in pictures, natch):

Nothing much to report for this week - still feeling the same and Stas is still giving the baby hugs and kisses - although she does now also point out my "boo boos" from my appendectomy.

Text Messages to Daddy

Day 2
Good morning daddy!

Tell mommy I neeeeeeeeeeeed my blankey!

Night night daddy! I love you!

Couch play with Daddy

Tom and Stasa have their own little game they play with the couch pillows. They both pull the back pillows down and pretend to hide underneath them, only when Stasa does it she giggles the whole time. And this is what she looks like when you "find" her:

And when a blanket gets involved, it's even MORE fun.

When they play this game my face ends up hurting from laughing and smiling so much.

Text Messages to Daddy

Day 1
"Hi Daddy!"

"Num num!"

"Night night Daddy!"

Single mom'ing it

Tom left Tuesday morning and is staying in Nashville for the week and then heading to Chicago for the weekend, so Stas and I are on our own. I wasn't looking forward to being alone for the week, but we did pretty well tonight. After daycare we took a quick trip to Michael's to check out their Halloween stuff and ended up getting Stasa some construction paper for arts and craft time. I made dinner (and did the dishes) as soon as we got home and then we both vacuumed the downstairs (me pushing the vacuum, Stasa following me with her baby stroller). We spent the rest of the night sharing a bowl of ice cream, playing, and reading books.

Tonight's dinner: spaghetti (mommy's lazy)

Cox Farms

We took Stasa out to Cox Farms in Centreville on Saturday morning and we all had so much fun! We weren't thrilled with paying $15 a person, but at least Stasa got in free and $30 for hours of entertainment is worth it, in my opinion.

Stasa LOVED just about everything. She squealed with delight when she saw the piglets, tried climbing up to pet the cow, ran around hugging every goat, and didn't tire of going down the hay slides. We'll definitely be taking her there every year - it's just so much fun.

16 Weeks

Not much to update this week. I scheduled the big ultrasound for early November, so I'll have my next appointment and ultrasound in the same week. Stasa gives the baby kisses now - I should try to get it on video next time, but maybe I'll wait until my belly's a bit bigger for that.

Words, words, and more words

Stasa's really bursting with language now-a-days and is getting really good at mimicking us and understanding how to use the new words.

please
boots (she knows the difference between boots and shoes)
Ya Ya (Yiayia)
Chee Chee (Gigi)
Gabba Gabba (for her new favorite show, Yo Gabba Gabba)
broosh (brush)
woof woof
WHOA! (usually when she's opening a package)
ball (instead of it always being baboo)

And it's not just new words, she's starting to put together little 2 and 3 word sentences; though I don't approve of all of them. I got the vacuum out the other night and she pointed to it and said "it's mommy's!" We're just eating up all of it right now. She seems much less frustrated now that she can communicate a little bit and she definitely understands much more now.

Naked

We started off like this:

And then she stood up and did this:

Which turned into this:

Before she hopped on the toy, she tried putting a new diaper on herself, but decided it was too hard. So after she ran around in the buff for awhile, we caught her and got some pants back on.
