State of the Uterus

I went in for my monthly appointment this morning and saw the new OBGYN, Dr. Shin. She was really nice and helpful and gave me a list of pediatricians since I'm not at all happy anymore with our family care practice. Baby Merkel's heartbeat was strong at 148 and even kicked the monitor while we were listening. My blood pressure was excellent (according to the nurse) and I've only gained a total of a few pounds so far (excellent according to Dr. Shin).

Tom and I go in this afternoon for the big ultrasound and will have lots of pictures to share after that. Of course, there will be no learning or sharing of the baby's sex...not until April 2!

"Re re!"

Stasa LOVES any and all forms of reading. She loves cuddling and reading with us, she loves reading to her bears, dolls, and other animals, and she loves reading to herself. She usually just chucks a book at us and crawls in our laps to let us know she's ready, but not this morning. This morning she points to the book and says "re re!" And kept repeating it until we got the picture and read the book.

Then later today she brought all of our Stephen King and Anne Rule books into the living room one by one and would proclaim "re re!' as she stacked each one on the table.

I'm glad she's taken such an interest in books and can only hope she loves reading as much as I do.

Stasa's been hard at work making all sorts of creations and has brought a few home from daycare, which are now all proudly hanging in the kitchen.

"Hi 'rees!"

Stasa is fascinated by trees these days. On weekend mornings we bring her into our bed for some cuddle time before we all get up for the day and she'll scoot to the foot of the bed to talk to the trees outside of our bedroom windows. She started off by waving and saying "hi 'rees!" but quickly progressed to stating her ownership of said 'rees.

"MY 'rees!"

As if I were threatening her territory. "MY 'rees!" complete with hands on her chest in case I didn't know who the my was referring to. And then as we're driving she'll constantly say "bye bye 'rees!"

Happy Halloween!

Tom and I waited until the last minute, but we pulled it together in the decoration department. Welcome to the revived Devil's Playground.

And since we were taking Stasa out trick-or-treating, we left the porch light on with a basket of candy outside and this sign:

On to the costumes! As you know, our flamingo dresses for all seasons and holidays and this holiday was no different.

Stasa was the tastiest cheeseburger, just ask Tom:

She was a little hesitant at the first house, but her face lit up when she realized that people were giving her candy just for knocking on their door. Once she knew that she wanted to check her pumpkin after every house.

And our pumpkins were still lit when we got home.

As soon as we got home, she beelined for her pumpkin and picked out a Dum Dum. She finished that in record time and then wanted more and more and more. We gave her a couple of small pieces (and she stole a piece of Tootsie Roll from Tom) and then put her pumpkin away for the night. I think she's hooked on this holiday.
